Lighthouse Academies’ Gary, Indiana college prep academy for grades 9-12 will be awarded $60,000 in funding over a two-year period from the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) and the JAMS Foundation (JAMS).

Lighthouse Academies today announced the establishment of the Alltrust Impact Scholarship. Three Lighthouse Academies graduating seniors will each receive a one thousand dollar scholarship from the fund.

For four students of the Gary Lighthouse College Preparatory Academy, graduation day was doubly sweet. In addition to earning high school diplomas, they each also were awarded associate degrees from Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.
Gary Lighthouse Charter School and Indianapolis Lighthouse Charter School each are recognized by U.S. News & World Report in its annual national ranking of top performing schools for 2018. The rankings are based on each school’s performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college. Both schools earned Bronze medals. More than 20,000 schools from across the 50 states and the District of Columbia were included in the analysis and rankings.

For Joy Spence, the Ivy Honors program at Ivy Tech Community College was a chance to learn what NOT to do in college.

Gary, Ind., hosts World Civility Day on Thursday, drawing attendees from as far afield as Kenya as part of an ongoing campaign that has boosted not only civility but also the city’s own self-image.
